Hello One With Heart community! Welcome to Quinn’s Corner!
Today I want to reflect on school. Fall is here and people are back in school. There are many things we could call One With Heart but we call it our ‘school’ because we bring together our Master Teacher Mas Guru Agung Janesa, excellent instructors, and students of all ages and ranks into one place where we all come to learn. School is a place where we come together to learn new ideas and skills, and it is a place where what you put in returns to you tenfold. We do not teach good classes here; we only teach great classes. All of our instructors have ongoing training and Mas Guru Agung Janesa has shifted her role and attention so she can continue to focus her attention on Teaching.
Our premier afterschool martial arts program (TASPP) is back in full swing. Mas Devin and Mas Shelby are working with a team of volunteers to train our students from Atkinson, Richmond, and Sunnyside every day of the school year. These dedicated students do a full day of education for their brains and then come here and continue their school by training their bodies and minds through movement.
Several of our teen students have left us to pursue higher education in college. Mas Sammy, Mas Will, Mas Max, Mas Xander, Mas Elodie, and Mas Nico follow in the footsteps of many successful One With Heart teens who have learned in this school great skills that have supported them in all aspects of their lives, including college and well into their adult lives.
We are about to start a Little Tigers program where we will help the youngest here start to learn about what it means to go to school. They will learn how to listen, how to love to move their bodies and how to work together. We will help them start the path of lifetime learning.
One of the primary reasons that my partners and I decided to buy the school was to preserve the culture of learning, of community, and of our art. As we all move forward together, I will share the tenfold return of what I put in with you all and each of our returns will multiply as we all commit to learning together.
